Overview

WaterAid is an international non-governmental organization founded in 1981 by UK water companies to tackle the global water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) crisis. Its mission is to provide clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene to everyone, everywhere. Initially starting projects in Zambia and Sri Lanka, it has grown into a global federation operating in 30 countries across multiple continents.

The organization focuses on transforming lives in the world's poorest communities by ensuring equitable access to safe water and sanitation. Working through local partners, it builds sustainable infrastructure, provides hygiene education, and promotes community engagement. Having reached over 27 million people with clean water and improved sanitation, WaterAid continues to advocate for global policy changes and mobilize support for WASH initiatives worldwide.
