Reading Partners

Overview

Reading Partners is a national nonprofit organization founded in 1999 dedicated to providing individualized reading instruction to K-4 students from underserved, low-income communities. Its mission centers on fostering lifelong literacy skills and educational equity, with particular outreach to students of color across the United States.

The program delivers one-on-one, research-based tutoring sessions twice weekly, facilitated by AmeriCorps members and community volunteers. Through initiatives such as Reading Partners Connects, the organization increases accessibility and emphasizes the science of reading. Collaborating with schools, community groups, and families, Reading Partners tracks student progress with data-driven assessments and has demonstrated significant literacy improvements in over 11,000 students served annually across 10 states and the District of Columbia.
