Overview

The Ministry of Health (MOH) Oman is the main government authority overseeing healthcare services in the Sultanate of Oman. It is responsible for formulating health policies, regulating healthcare professionals and facilities, and ensuring comprehensive healthcare access for all residents, including Omani citizens and eligible expatriates. The MOH operates under the leadership of the Minister of Health and emphasizes decentralized health services and decision-making.

The MOH provides a wide range of healthcare services through a structured system that includes primary, secondary, and tertiary care. Primary healthcare is delivered mainly through health centers and local hospitals, while secondary care is offered by specialized hospitals and polyclinics. Tertiary care is provided by regional and national referral hospitals. The MOH also runs various programs focused on preventive care, community health initiatives, and the regulation of pharmaceuticals.

The Ministry serves Omani citizens with free healthcare services, including primary care and specialist appointments, and extends similar services to expatriates from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The MOH works alongside other government entities and a growing private healthcare sector to enhance service delivery across Oman.
