Overview

KfW is a German state-owned investment and development bank based in Frankfurt am Main. Established in 1948 as part of the Marshall Plan, it has grown to become the world's largest national development bank and Germany's third largest bank by balance sheet. It is primarily owned by the Federal Republic of Germany and the States of Germany.

The bank operates through the KfW Bankengruppe, which includes subsidiaries such as DEG, KfW IPEX-Bank, and FuB.
