Overview

Heifer International is a global nonprofit organization based in Little Rock, Arkansas, dedicated to ending hunger and poverty through sustainable community development. Founded in 1944 by Dan West, the organization began by sending livestock to support nutrition for refugee children during the Spanish Civil War. Over the years, it has evolved from direct animal shipments to forming local partnerships that promote holistic development, assisting over 34 million families across more than 125 countries.

Heifer focuses on values-based community development, working with local farmers to build resilient economies. The organization provides livestock, including cows, pigs, chickens, and goats, along with agricultural training and resources.
