Formed as a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, this full-service Indian airline was established on November 5, 2013, and began operations on January 9, 2015. The airline focused on providing a distinguished flying experience by combining renowned service excellence with Singapore Airlines' hospitality. Its inaugural flight connected Delhi to Mumbai, reflecting its commitment to premier travel routes.

Operating a modern fleet of 54 aircraft, the airline connected 43 domestic and international destinations with over 260 flights daily. It offered economy, premium economy, and business class cabins, introducing luxury amenities such as full-flat beds. Recognized for innovative services—like being the first in India to offer premium economy class—the airline held approximately 9.2% domestic market share by October 2024 and was the second-largest domestic airline prior to merging with Air India in November 2024.
