Overview

The University of Northern Colorado (UNC) is a public doctoral research university located in Greeley, Colorado. Founded in 1889 as the Colorado State Normal School, it has grown significantly and now offers over 200 undergraduate and graduate programs across six colleges. UNC is particularly known for its strong teacher education program, graduating more educators than any other university in Colorado, while also providing recognized programs in health sciences, business, humanities, and the arts.

With a student body of approximately 9,000 to 10,000, UNC emphasizes a student-centered academic experience that includes hands-on learning and research opportunities. The campus features historic residence halls and extends to locations in Loveland, Denver/Aurora, and Colorado Springs. The university fields 19 NCAA Division I athletic teams competing in the Big Sky Conference.
