Overview
The University of Cape Coast (UCC) is a public university in Ghana, established in 1962. Initially a university college affiliated with the University of Ghana, it became fully independent in 1971, gaining the authority to confer its own degrees. UCC was founded to meet the demand for qualified teachers and has since expanded its academic offerings to include programs in medicine, health care, agriculture, business, law, social sciences, and the arts.
With an enrollment of about 80,000 students, UCC is organized into six colleges, which encompass various faculties and schools, including the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Agriculture, Medical School, and Faculty of Law. The university trains a diverse range of professionals and provides cultural immersion and study abroad programs, encouraging students to engage with local communities and culture.
