Overview

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) is a federal tertiary institution in Nigeria, established on November 23, 1970. Originally an Institute of Technology, it gained full university status in 1971 and was renamed in 1972. UNIBEN operates two main campuses: Ekehuen and Ugbowo, the latter housing the main administrative offices and the John Harris Library. The university offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across 15 to 16 faculties, including Arts, Engineering, Medicine, and Law.

UNIBEN is dedicated to advancing knowledge through teaching and research, with a strong emphasis on community service.
