Overview

The University of Arizona is a public land-grant research university located in Tucson, Arizona. Established in 1885, it is the first university in the Arizona Territory and serves as Arizona's sole representative in the Association of American Universities. The main campus covers 380 acres and features 179 buildings, situated about one mile northeast of downtown Tucson. The university's mission is to discover, educate, serve, and inspire.

Offering a wide range of educational programs, the university awards approximately 400 PhDs annually and houses the College of Medicine, which operates both a medical center in Tucson and a four-year M.D. college in Phoenix. The institution also includes the College of Agriculture, Life & Environmental Sciences, and provides various programs in history, arts, business, and law. With a history of innovation and a current enrollment of over 40,000 students, the university supports diverse academic programs and robust research initiatives.
