Overview

The California State University (CSU) is a public university system in California, established in 1960. Recognized as the largest four-year public university system in the United States, it encompasses 23 campuses, including comprehensive and polytechnic universities, as well as a specialized maritime academy. The system features historic campuses such as San José State University, founded in 1857, and new additions like California State University Channel Islands, opened in 2002.
