The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a charitable trust established in 2000, dedicated to eliminating classroom hunger and malnutrition in India. It implements the Government of India’s Mid-Day Meal Scheme, now known as the PM POSHAN Initiative, in government and government-aided schools. The foundation's vision is that no child in India should be deprived of education due to hunger. It provides hot, nutritious, and tasty mid-day meals to encourage school attendance and improve health and educational outcomes.

Headquartered in Bangalore, the foundation operates through a Public-Private Partnership model, collaborating with government entities, corporate partners, and philanthropists. It currently serves over 2.35 million children across 25,768 schools and Anganwadi centers in 16 states and 3 union territories. With more than 65 kitchens, it has delivered over 4 billion meals since its inception. The foundation aims to expand its reach to feed 3 million children daily by 2025, significantly contributing to improved school attendance and children's nutritional status.
