Success Academy Charter Schools

Overview

Established in 2006 by Eva Moskowitz, this public charter school network began with a single school in Harlem and has grown to operate 47 schools across Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx, serving over 20,000 students in New York City.

The mission is to create world-class K-12 public schools while advocating for policies that promote educational access for all children. With a focus on high academic standards, student engagement, and holistic development, the network is known for rigorous teacher training, active parental involvement, a structured reading program, and enrolling students through a public lottery—primarily serving children of color from low-income households. Its academic performance places it consistently among the top schools in New York State for math and reading, and there are goals to expand to serve 50,000 students annually in the future.
