San José State University (SJSU) is a public research university located in San Jose, California. Established in 1857, it is the oldest public institution of higher education in the western United States and serves as the founding campus of the California State University (CSU) system. Originally beginning as a normal school for teacher training, SJSU has evolved to offer a wide range of bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees across various disciplines, including liberal arts, sciences, engineering, and business.

The campus is situated in downtown San Jose and features modern facilities such as the award-winning Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library.
