Overview

Located in the Baltimore/Washington corridor, approximately 37 miles south of Baltimore, this large and diverse county covers nearly 500 square miles, blending urban living with scenic environments. It is recognized as the most populous African American-majority county in the United States and the second most affluent in Maryland.

The county government operates under a Council/Executive structure with three branches: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial.
