Overview

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), established in 1986 in Bangalore, is recognized as India's first National Law University. Dedicated to advancing legal education and reforming the Indian legal system, NLSIU has played a pioneering role through its research and policy initiatives. Founded by leading legal experts, the university was designed to create a premier law school on par with international institutions.

With its introduction of a five-year integrated undergraduate law program in 1988, NLSIU set new standards for legal education nationwide. The Harvard case method forms the core of its teaching, fostering collaborative learning among students and faculty.
