Overview

The National Association of State Foresters (NASF) is a non-profit organization established in 1920. It represents the directors of forestry agencies from all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, five U.S. territories, and three nations in compacts of free association with the U.S. NASF is a leading authority on forest management, promoting sustainable forestry practices and forest conservation through public-private partnerships and policy advocacy.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., NASF collaborates with regional organizations to enhance the health and productivity of forests. Its members, known as state foresters, manage nearly two-thirds of the nation's forests and oversee wildfire protection on over 1.5 billion acres. Key activities include wildfire mitigation, private landowner assistance, and community forestry initiatives. NASF also supports educational initiatives through its affiliated foundation, the National Association of State Foresters Foundation (NASFF).
