Overview

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (MICT) is a government ministry in Namibia focused on the development and oversight of the Information Technology, Telecommunications, Broadcasting, Media, and Postal sectors. Established in April 2008, MICT emerged from the merger of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Communications section of the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication. It serves as the central authority for ICT policy, regulation, and development in the country.

MICT's mission is to facilitate effective communication between the government and citizens through reliable ICT services. The ministry promotes digital inclusion and equitable access to information, ensuring timely dissemination of information to the public. Its responsibilities include developing ICT policies, coordinating ICT use across government departments, and overseeing telecommunications and media services. MICT aims to enhance socio-economic growth by acting as a catalyst for universal access to information and communication technologies in Namibia.
