Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI)

Overview

The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is a New Zealand government agency formed in 2012 from the merger of the Ministry of Fisheries and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. It supports and enhances the success of New Zealand's primary industries, including agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and food safety.

The agency's main functions include developing food safety standards, leading biosecurity initiatives, and facilitating trade to maximize export opportunities.
