Overview

MaineHealth is a not-for-profit integrated health system established in 1998, making it the largest of its kind in northern New England. It serves approximately 1.1 million residents across 16 counties in central, southern, and western Maine, as well as eastern New Hampshire. With annual revenues exceeding $3 billion, MaineHealth is committed to promoting community health.

The system includes Maine Medical Center, which has a rich history dating back to 1874, and features eight community hospitals, a Level 1 trauma center, and the MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital. MaineHealth offers a comprehensive range of services, including emergency care, specialized medical services, long-term care, and diagnostic support. It also emphasizes medical education and research, partnering with Tufts University School of Medicine and hosting the MaineHealth Institute for Research.
