Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts

Overview

Located in Manhattan, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts is recognized as the world's first modern performing arts center. Built between 1962 and 1968, the complex was designed to provide a home for major cultural institutions and features a master plan by architect Wallace K. Harrison. It houses distinguished organizations such as the Metropolitan Opera, New York Philharmonic, and Juilliard School.

The travertine-clad campus includes several celebrated venues like David Geffen Hall and the New York State Theater, as well as the Library & Museum of the Performing Arts. Lincoln Center offers an extensive range of events in classical music, ballet, opera, theater, and has been the site of significant performances since its inaugural concert in 1962.
