Overview

Kenyon College is a private liberal arts college located in Gambier, Ohio. Founded in 1824 by Episcopal Bishop Philander Chase, it is the oldest private institution of higher education in Ohio. The college enrolls approximately 1,800 undergraduate students and offers over 50 majors, minors, and concentrations, including self-designed options. The campus features historic Collegiate Gothic architecture and spans 1,200 acres.

With a rich history rooted in training clergy for the Ohio frontier, the institution boasts notable buildings such as Old Kenyon, Rosse Hall, and Ascension Hall. It became coeducational in 1969 and has contributed significantly to the development of the Advanced Placement Program. The college is renowned for The Kenyon Review, a distinguished literary magazine, and its motto, Magnanimiter Crucem Sustine, reflects its Episcopal heritage.
