Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is a public central university located in New Delhi, India. Established in 1920, it began as a nationalist educational institution with the aims of promoting patriotism and cultural renaissance. The university's origins trace back to Aligarh, later relocating to Okhla in 1935, and became a deemed university in 1962 before attaining central university status in 1988.
