The tunnel, a 32-mile rail link, was officially opened in 1994 and serves as a vital transport route for passengers, vehicles, and freight. Getlink operates under a 65-year concession agreement with the French and British governments.

The company offers several key services, including Le Shuttle, which transports cars, trucks, and coaches through the tunnel, and Eurostar International Limited, a high-speed passenger rail service connecting London with major European cities. Getlink caters to a diverse customer base, including individual travelers, vehicle owners, freight operators, and logistics companies, supporting tourism and commerce between the UK and continental Europe.
