Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute

Overview

The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization established in 2003 by members of the Congressional Hispanic Conference. Its mission is to enhance economic and social opportunities for Americans of Hispanic and Portuguese descent. Serving as the educational arm of the Congressional Hispanic Conference, the institute provides awareness, access, and opportunities to the Hispanic community.

CHLI offers various leadership development programs, such as the Global Leaders Internship and Fellowship, which features 15-week summer internships for undergraduate students in congressional and corporate affairs in Washington, D.C. The organization emphasizes educational initiatives, leadership training, and building connections among Hispanic leaders. Through collaboration with corporate sponsors and engagement with members of Congress, CHLI aims to cultivate a pipeline of Hispanic talent for future leadership roles, primarily supporting Hispanic and Portuguese-American students and young professionals seeking career advancement.
