Children's Mercy

Overview

Children's Mercy is a nonprofit pediatric health system located in Kansas City, Missouri, established in 1897. It serves children and young adults up to age 21 across a broad region, covering approximately 150 counties in Missouri and Kansas, as well as patients from over 40 other states. The hospital features 390 beds and is recognized for its excellence in pediatric care, being the only Level I pediatric trauma center and Level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) between St. Louis and Denver.

The hospital offers a wide range of services, including inpatient care, a 24/7 pediatric emergency department, and over 30 specialty clinics. It performs more than 19,000 surgical cases annually and has the largest pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) in the region. Children's Mercy is also a major teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Kansas University Medical Center, training approximately 600 medical students each year. The hospital is dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support to a diverse pediatric population, with a strong emphasis on family-centered care and community impact.
