Overview

The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) is a Crown corporation established in 2002, operating under the CATSA Act and accountable to the Government of Canada. Headquartered in Ottawa, the organization centralizes airport screening responsibilities to enhance aviation security, particularly in response to the events of September 11, 2001.

The mission is to protect the public by providing effective and efficient screening services for passengers, baggage, and airport workers. CATSA operates at 89 designated airports across Canada, managing over 400 screening points and employing more than 8,500 screening officers.
