BlackRock is the world's largest asset management firm, founded in 1988 and based in New York City. As of 2025, it manages approximately $12.5 trillion in assets, serving clients in over 100 countries through 70 offices. The company started as a risk management and fixed income institutional asset manager and has expanded significantly, particularly after acquiring Barclays Global Investors in 2010, which included the iShares ETF business.
