Beloit College

Overview

Beloit College is a private liberal arts institution situated in Beloit, Wisconsin, and stands as the state's oldest continuously operated college since its founding in 1846. Established by pioneers who secured a territorial charter, it has a storied history, including a transition to coeducational status in 1895 and the graduation of Grace Ousley, the first African-American woman, in 1904.

Enrolling approximately 1,000 undergraduates, Beloit offers over 70 majors, minors, and programs. The college launched five new schools in late 2023 to further organize its academic offerings, and has demonstrated curricular adaptability through innovations such as the year-round "Beloit Plan" introduced in 1964. Renowned events like the Beloit Relays have attracted athletes from diverse institutions throughout its history.
