Eastern Caribbean Central Bank
Overview
The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) is a central bank established in October 1983, serving as the monetary authority for eight island economies in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU). These member states include Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Its primary goal is to maintain the stability of the Eastern Caribbean Dollar and ensure the integrity of the banking system within its member states.
The ECCB oversees the issuance and management of the Eastern Caribbean Dollar, regulates and supervises financial institutions, and provides policy advice to support economic growth. Governed by the Monetary Council and a Board of Directors, with the Governor as Chief Executive, the bank engages in initiatives to enhance fiscal and economic resilience, including legal frameworks for Citizenship by Investment programs. Headquartered in Basseterre, St. Kitts, ECCB is dedicated to fostering a stable and integrated financial environment in the region.
