Overview

The Regional Metropolitan Transport Authority (ARTM) is a public transportation authority in the Greater Montreal area, Quebec, Canada. Established on June 1, 2017, by the Government of Quebec, ARTM took over from the former Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) and expanded its responsibilities to enhance public transit services. The agency operates with a budget of approximately CA$2.47 billion and is governed by a board of directors that includes independent members and representatives from various local governments.

ARTM is responsible for the strategic planning, funding, pricing, and promotion of public transit, including paratransit services. It coordinates services among multiple transit operators, setting fare structures for agencies like the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) and exo. The authority also manages the integrated fare system, including the OPUS card, which simplifies travel across different transit services. By focusing on seamless travel and unified ticketing, ARTM aims to provide accessible and efficient public transit for residents and commuters in the region.
