Overview

The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) is an independent statutory authority established in 2008 to lead national education initiatives in Australia. Its mission is to enhance learning outcomes for all young Australians by providing a consistent and high-quality educational framework from Foundation to Year 12.

ACARA develops and maintains the national curriculum, ensuring that all students have access to the same educational standards regardless of their location. It administers the National Assessment Program, including NAPLAN, which evaluates student achievement in literacy and numeracy. Additionally, ACARA manages the My School website, offering detailed information about schools to the community, and produces the National Report on Schooling in Australia to inform policy and research. Through its comprehensive measurement framework, ACARA supports data use for educational reform and policy development.
